Too much food?
Hi, do you think this is too much food for my baby sulcata tortoise to consume on a daily basis?
It is a mixture of weeds, grass, super forage excel, cuttlebone powder and nutrobal........... |

I would say yes. You only need enough so that it would cover his back. I feed my baby 1 small dandilion leaf, 1 small amount of goose grass, and 1 small plantian leaf.

I would say most definately , I have never reared sulcatas but I do know there care is almst identical including diet and amounts of feed offered as it is for leopards.
An idea would be to sprinkle the food a large pinch of what you have prepared around the enclosure this way the tortoise will have to forage for the food instead of it having access to a large amount on offer in one place, the exercise will do him more good as he looks about for food. Great diet offered by the way just way too much Darren

That's more than my 9-year old redfoot (7.5" SCL) gets. So YES! Way too much. You are unlikely to underfeed -- far more likely to overfeed. Feed less than you think he should get!

Your tortois eis beautiful, but thats way to much for a lil guy like him.
My THB eats 1 small dandelion leaf, 2 small leaves of dead nettle, couple of dead nettle flowers... tiny bit of sticky bud and some grass, (on other days some sowthistle and bittercress)... But it sounds alot but its just the right amount for my THB. a sulcata would need other food, but not so much |
