Hey All :) (hibernation question)
Hey,
This is my first time on this site, and I have to say - it is by far the best I have found on the net. I got my Horsefield tort 'Snorkmaiden' a few months ago and we have got in to a good routine, he is happy, eating, enjoys his baths etc and I am in general very pleased with him...but he sleeps alot. However, I am a bit confused. His vet (who specialises in reptiles /torts etc) says I do not need to hibernate him if I do not want to. He is two years old (Snorkmaiden not the vet ha ha). What are your thoughts? x |

It is totally up to you whether you want to hibernate him or not. If you feel confident to do so then go ahead.
Personally as you have only had him a couple of months then if it were me I wouldn't. However, sometimes Horsfields have a way of deciding for you I also have to add that I absolutely love your tort's name, Snorkmaiden...fantastic, is it Snorks for short?! |

Hi
Thanks for your advice. He does seem a little stubborn - he loves his sleep! I would prefer to leave it til I'm a little more experienced maybe. Thanks re - his name! Yes - he has quite a few nicknames but Snorks is one of them, along with my boyfriend calling him 'Amstrad' because he looks old and slow ha ha ha! x |
