New tortoise - Picture and first weigh in
Well as promised, here is a picture of my new tortoise I'm still very much undecided on a name currently. I think it's between George, Eric or Rossi.
Here's a picture: I'm a little bit worried that it looks like his shell is pyramiding. It's not severe is it? I've decided that for now I'm going to feed enough to cover half his shell, daily. I am so worried about accelerated growth and any possible problems this could cause He has just eaten his first weed I have a cuttlebone in there now and I'm dusting his weeds with the Komodo calcium supplement daily. Does this sound ok? He currently measures 73mm and weighs 106g. Does this seem an ok weight? Sorry for the million questions and worries!! I am so anxious to get this right and to have a healthy, happy tortoise |

Aww, he looks lovely! His shell is slightly bumpy, but looks to me to be nothing to worry about. Calcium each day is good and you might also want to give him a dusting of vitamins a couple of times a week too with something like Nutrobal. The experts will tell you if his weight is good. X

I'm a newbie too and it is a bit of a worry isn't it, trying to get everything just right?
Your little chap is lucky to have such a caring mum to look after him.

Hello and welcome. A few links to help you out with his care, I apologise if you already know about them. Good luck with your new tortoise.

Your new tortoise is lovely. I like the name Rossi after Valentino!

At least George could be Georgie if said tortie turns out to be female!
