Exo Terra pellets
they look very much like the Mazuri exotic leafeater to me, I have ordered a couple of bags to see what they are like before my Mazuri runs out, I will compare them probably by smell

I would think that depends on how much and how often you feed it.

My tortoises have some of this, I bought it before I knew about the Komodo stuff which I think smells ok, if I were a trotoise I might consider eating the Komodo stuff. But the Exo Terra stuff stinks horrible and makes the room smell when they have it in their dishes lol. I would def not eat this if I were a trotoise!

I think I got 500g of the mazuri from paul and it's lasted since about september or something and I'd say there's probably still 150g left. if you feed 2% of the bodyweight then you are not using much at all. my 5 year old torts get about 10 pellets each if they are only getting pellets but I work it so that I will only use 5 pellets and add pre alpin so instead of 2 times a week they get it 4 times a week though I don't always do the same thing every week, depends if I can get weeds, the plantain grows new leaves every week

I emailed Exo Terra to ask what the ingredients were. They did reply. I'll try to copy and put on here x

Extruded Food
Extrusion is a process where friction and pressure is combined within an extruder barrel to create extreme heat. The heat is then used to rapidly cook and preserve the proteins and carbohydrate ingredients. This process improves the availability of these nutrients to reptiles and increases the digestivity and ensures palatability. Nutrition Protection A number of nutrients are subject to deterioration when exposed to light. The 'Nutrition Protect' bag prevents light from penetrating, maintaining the nutritional value of the food at its maximum level. All vitamin B's, including Folic Acid (leafy greens) are destroyed after light exposure within a week, e.g. when packed in a plastic transparent container. (oh well ) Light will also discolour the food items, promote the deterioration of the binders and activate enzymes prematurely. The "Nutrition Protect" bag also locks in aromas and flavours. The zipper allows storage after opening with a reduced air-gap, prolonging the food's nutritional values and keeping the flavour and aroma inside. All bags are CO2 flushed, preventing contamination with harmful bugs. |

I have the Exo Terra pellets now and they are definitely NOT the same as Mazuri Exotic Leafeater. Although they look the same on the picture they are in fact tiny in comparison. They also smell completely different and after soaking for fifteen minutes they had not swelled up much at all and were still quite firm. However, the torts started eating them straight away
