Default Throwing away your childhood!!

Well that's literally what I have been doing for the last few weeks.

Finally sold my parents house of 45 years and had to clear it out.

My Mum had kept all my school work from junior school to secondary school all my reports - my dolls and all my toys, birthday cards I had received over the years.

Sadly I have no room to keep any of it so it all had to go.

She certainly was hoarder my Mum but it did bring back many memories.

I was surprised how sad it made me feel.

Awww Anne, I hope you are ok.

A work colleague has gone through a similar situation and she said the same thing.

I thought ''it's not until we grow up and have to do this sort of thing that we appreciate how dedicated our parent/s really are''

Good old mum's xxxx

Back to the old house Anne, think of the good times and laugh's. Some clearing out is a memory jerker.

I had to do this when helping my parents move from their house into a bungalow closer to us, following Dad's strokes.
It was such a trip down memory lane to find old records from the 80's and masses of old photos.
I had sorted through my A-level folders a few years earlier. To be honest, I was quite ruthless as time wasn't on our side and most things (apart from photos and some records which my brother had) were binned.

I've done the same in our loft recently - throwing out old penpal letters I received as a teenager, old love letters, baby clothes, etc. I've kept all my old diaries ranging from when I was aged 13-32. Should be a good read for the grandkids in the future!
It is good to have a sort-out as it seems to freshen up the old brain a bit too.

I have had to clear out my own loft twice now ... Had loft conversions in both properties I have lived in.

I can't hoard now as I don't have the room.

I always worry about throwing things away .... You never no when you might need them !!!

I will have to move on Sara I was in two minds whether to sell the house or not.

When we lost Mum, Dad didn't want me to clear her things out - that's what made it harder - all her things were still there !!

I have had to do something similar recently with my dad. He has been kicked out by his partner and I was left the task of getting his things
