Default Aloe Vera advise

I brought an Aloe Vera today, and wanted some advise on it. There were two plants next to each other, too my untrained Aloe Vera eye they looked the same! but one tag said 'herb' and the other tag said 'kitchen' I brought the 'herb' one.

So my Q's are can this plant i brought be safely fed to Zen, and can anyone give me any advise on watering them, is it once every 2 weeks or something like that?

The lady in the shop (it was a herb centre), said it had off shoots at the bottom of the plant that i could tease off and re plant.

Any help gratefully received.

To look where they originated and grow wild, Dry like the Sudan, Africa, India watering when total dry give a drink, these plant's i find there best watered from the bottom in a plant saucer or tray less water in winter. Summer they can go out if dry but like a summer rain shower now and again.

It looks a lot like mine. I grew mine on from a cutting from a friend and have taken a further two cuttings from my plant since. I water weekly and it seems to like the humidity in the bathroom. The others are in the kitchen. The torts have a bit now and again. I wouldn't say it's their favourite, but it's handy as a back-up to bulk up the weeds on a bad week in the winter.

I just think Rachael that herb is nothing more than a word on the ticket, I don't think there are big differences between types like one being a herb and one not. They are all just Aloe Veras whether they are called herbs or otherwise. There are other Aloe plants too like Aloe Aristata which I had and looks very much like your one there except mine wasn't spikey but had the light spots. Feed sparingly to avoid the sh its

that's great thank you, i killed off another cactus by over watering it, giving it in a tray makes a lot of sense thank you.
