Default Beech chips and top soil-prob another daft question!

I have had Alfred since November and was advised to keep him on beech chips but have now seen the light , today we have turfed him out of his table (for now he is in a big indoor rabbit cage) we have made his table bigger by over a quarter and it sort of looks like a beech hut theme (will post pics tomorrow) and sealed the joints. His table is now 92cm by 52cm so much better for him! Beacuse he is used to living on beech chips I am going to do half the table top soil and half beech chips until he settles in a bit.

Sorry for the waffle...right now for my question, should the soil go at the warm end or the cool end? If the soil goes at the cool end I can make it deeper because the sides raise up but will it be warm enough for him to dig in? The table is right next to a radiator so wont be too cold, tends to stay about 23 at the cool end. I dont want to do it wrong and have to shift it all about and stress him again!

Looking forward to setting it up tomorrow lol, I need to get out more lol.
