The reason you don't see sub-adults/adults for sale is that breeders often don't have the room to grow on tortoises to sell at a later stage. Therefore they are sold as hatchlings and become someones lifelong pet, therefore no adults/sub-adults for sale. Its logical if you think about it.

with my reptiles i tend to buy them as babies and watch them grow, unless the sex can't be garunted.......this way u learn the nature of the animal and shows that u are buying it for companonship rather than financal gain.

Hatchlings are sold by UK breeders, and thats why they dont have older torts to sell. Also the
same thing is happening with any imported tortoises from breeders in other countries. Which is why I am saying that any eight year old from abroad is more likely to be wild caught.
