No dimming stats are always on, as they get to the point of the set temp they throttle back on the volume of power until they meet the point where the volume of power no matter how small equates to the volume of heat required so they meet an equilibrium where the power is always on and temp is always bang on with no fluctuations, try it with a normal light bulb in the holder, then try heating the probe with a hair dryer gently and you should see the bulb dim significantly or eventually go out as you pass the set temp, if it doesn't go out that stat is knackered

Not stay permanently on.....whether it hits the desired temp or not.
And, to recap, its not switched off. As I know its a permanent light on - if unit is off. xx |

Have to say...the red light on the unit -its never been permanently on (no matter what temp in the room - if higher than the setting). The other one I have, acts like it should.

Try your hair dryer on the thermostat sensor and see if the light goes out

Surely if putting heat on the sensor the light would go on....eventually permanent.??

I thought putting heat on would make it go out as it's at the temp you want it, technically should then be off? Though I'm a tad confused by this thread. Ha ha. I know, it doesn't take much!! Before you say!

Putting heat on the sensor from a hair dryer is probably in the region of 30' c plus so would mean you go past the set temperature of say 20 'c and turn everything off totally so then you know the thermostat is working
Becci has got the idea What make of stat is it I'm running 6 dimming microclimate ones and the light stays on on the thermostat, there are another 5 pulse thermostats on the go here the lights on them flash on and off rapidly, Last edited by 4chester; 19-01-2014 at 04:48 PM. |
