Beautiful T. h. hermanni

Two things to keep in mind if you are considering adding more:

1-Of course mixing different species of tortoise is not a good idea but it should be noted that with T. hermanni hermanni it should really be avoided at all costs. This species of tortoise is highly susceptible to catching diseases and/or pathogens from other tortoises. They typically do not do well in mixed communities. T. h. hermanni is one of the most problematic tortoises when it comes to mixing with other species.

2-Keeping this breed of tortoise in a colony of it's own type is fine with exception of too many males. Male T. h. hermanni are known to be highly aggressive towards each other and will battle viciously at times. Females can also exhibit this kind of behavior when gravid or in cramped quarters. Keeping these things in mind you should do fine with them.
