Star Food
Hi
I'm on countdown to picking up my indian star next weekend I was wondering what fellow keepers of these tortoise use as a diet ?? I see there are many seed and dried food on ebay , so are any of these any good , or which should be avoided. Certainly growing your own foods is far better for the health of your tortoise. Dried foods are
not good, especially pelleted foods. They are high in protiens. I think stars are kept nearly the same a leopards, so grasses would be high on the list for them. High fibre foods. I hope Darren (piglet) can help more here<g>.

Sandy is correct Star tortoises thrive best on a high fibre diet grasses and soft hay(very finely chopped for small babies) as at least half of the dietry intake also all other weedy greens are excellent and babies tend to enjoy these more than grasses/hay which can be added as they grow .
Occasional squash and dice cucumber is also appreciated but not to form a major part of the diet. Stars enjoying grass
