Solarglo blown again!
I have had yet another Exo Terra Solar Glo 125 go on me this morning. They only last a few months at most and the worst thing is that every time they go they take out the Glow Light dome as well
I have decided enough is enough, it's time to stop economising and splash out on something better. The local reptile shop only had one combi bulb - the T Rex UV Active 100. I don't know much about this one but the only write up that I could find seemed positive so I 'shelled out' for it and yet another glow light holder to put it in. The bulb said £67 on the label but the guy at the shop must have though it was a bit steep so he let me have it for 60! At least it happened at the weekend so that I didn't have to leave Ovid without a UV source all day! |

I would go for Arcadia if this one lets you down as well Nick. I also swapped over to the Arcadia Clamp Lamps as well, as my glo lamps always went as well. Exo Terra will never get a penny off me again Do you have the lamp plugged into a surge protector as well?? Better safe than sorry

Nickers...you have persevered long enough.
In a nutshell... SG's are c***p! Al did readings on their UV output and even that was crud. Get a good Arcadia 160w, or a MR 120/100w. Sorry that you have had this happen. You'll fair better definitely with one of the 2 mentioned. xx |

You are both right - no more 'Solar Blows' for me! I will see how this T Rex one does, at the price it should be okay Ovid's extension will be in place next week and was going to use an exo terra repti glo 2.0 in that for a bit of extra light, but not sure now!

Arcadia John points out in another thread that it is the width of the shade as well as the wattage rating that counts when choosing a shade for a bulb |

I had the same problem with slar glo. Got an arcadia one now though! When mine blew it did stop the refliector dome thing working, but it was just the fuse.

Same problem here also with solar glo. Longest I had one last was 5 months, shortest was 2 weeks. I gave up on them last year.

Should my Arcadias ever blow, do you need to return it to the retailer or Arcadia itself?
