Looking good!
Thinning out/re-potting is when the problems occur though. Next time you grow them - may be don't put quite so many seeds into the containers and use slightly deeper ones then you can just take them outside, dig a hole in the garden and transplant the whole lot, or just leave in situ outside. We grow ours in large deep seed trays and just snip away as required and they mostly re-sprout. Please don't think I am in any way criticising - because I'm not. |

sadly i cant just stick them in the garden.. as we are going to be digging the whole lot up soon and landscaping the whole lot... (its not all that usable at the moment!)
i did the same thing when i grew herbs and had great success! so ill give it a go and if i doesn't take, i still have loads of seeds left thanks for the advice though! can give that a go with the next batch.

it took me 4 hours... but i've selected a good batch from each tub and re-potted them in cups. it was very delicate work, but i think they might survive, here is how it turned out...
All the ones that didn't make the grade are still in the takeaway tubs, but they are now in the other room so i can use them for variety and snip bits off over their dinner fingers crossed they will like them, they better do with all the effort i've been putting in!! haha only time will tell!

Sorry if I sound stupid, I'm not green fingered at all
Why did you have to transfer them into pots?

because i put lots of seeds in! and the trays aren't very deep. you should always 'thin out' the seedlings, keeping the strongest ones, otherwise they will all be competing for space and light and then they all end up dead
so now there are just a few seedlings in each pot (all spaced out evenly) and now the roots are established, they can grow right down into the deep pots and make them stronger. well thats the plan anyway haha. ive left the rest in the shallow trays, and ill just use them as they are to add a bit of variety to the food. today they have lots of seedlings to eat, all the ones that i broke the roots of by accident, and my little guys are enjoying munching on them right now! especially the milk thistle ones, nice and juicy

Repotting is a back-breaking job isn't it! Well done Louise, you're doing a grand job there. Fingers crossed they all take and grow into good healthy plants.

the weeds are now living outside, some grew well indoors, some didnt grow much but still looked healthy so here's hoping a good dose of sunshine will do the trick! They are all still in the plastic tubs so they are living outisde in bottle carriers haha, i hope nobody steals them they have shade for half a day and sun for half so its just a waiting game now, nothing has been lost so far... but they were definitely ready to go outside!
