I just need some reasurance
Ive had tommy (a horsefield) a few weeks now and he seems to be doing well
but Im still worried about the food thing if I pick weeds he just sits looking at them and walks off Ive seen him eat maybe one leaf once a week I know I cant watch him all the time lol he did eat a whole plant a few weeks back but it wasnt very big and now the weed seeds are starting to grow I cant really know how much he is eating I give him daily baths and I weighed him when I got him and he has put on 3 grms in about 4 weeks (is that ok?) also he is outside all the time at the moment but when it rains he tends to just sit in the grass and get wet he never ever goes in his shelter anymore is he normal pmsl |

HI
If you have had lots of rain then I would bring him in for a warm up! My horsefields have been in and out over the last few weeks due to the amount of rain and the enclosures being constantly damp! How old is he? Wendy

thanks ridgeway
hi wendy I have been bringing him in if he feels cold but most of the time he is ok he gets really annoyed and trys to climb out of the encloser or sits to the oposite end to the lamp lol part of his encloser is covered from rain and the soil there is bone dry I dont know why but he seems to like sitting in the damp grass if I try and move him to the dry end he stomps back down to the grass the guy I had him off of said he is 5 years old |

Sounds like you have the problem and not the tortoise<vbg>. As long as he is eating drinking and moving about, I wouldnt worry to much. He/she sounds like a normal tortoise to me<g>.

he sounds like quite a character
my tortoise does the same rain thing, not really taking cover from the downpour marge tends to prefer natural coverage rather than the wooden box i made her (i still havent forgiven her for not going in it haha) maybe when your plants grow he will take shelter under them. and maybe hes letting them get massive so he can have a huge feast!
