Iv been reading on here that they like butternut squash. But what else can I pick up from the local shops. For example carrots, sprouts ?
Thanks x |

Carrots have a medium amount of oxalic acid so should be fed sparingly. Sprouts have goitrogens so should be fed even less. Kale is a good choice as is Romaine lettuce. Any of the squashes are fine (this includes pumpkins).

Try looking on The Tortoise Table it even has a really handy search function!
carrots are ok as are sprouts (both in moderation) many lettuces are good, like lambs lettuce (mostly avoid iceberg) but remember they are high in water and low in nutrition. rocket is ok in moderation too Try using pellet foods once or twice a week to help ensure a good balance (Mazuri is available from some members on here, but I also use Komodo tortoise pellets which can be bought from many online outlets, like amazon or even the SW shop) the pellets should be served well soaked pre alpine can also be good, (I get mine from the Tortoise Lady) also there are many weeds that can be fed (search tortoise table) that can easily be found in gardens, particularly during the summer hope that helps! |

I was thinking Brussel sprouts but seed sprouts are mostly fine depending on the type of sprout and like Merlin said fed in moderation.
