Natural Grassland Tortoise Food, anyone using it?

Bought this before reading up on diets here, give munster 2 soaked pellets a week. Just wondered if anybody uses them occasionally? Thoughts?

Personally I would avoid as with a list of ingredients that long it doesn't come across as very "natural". Not sure how many wild tortoises would eat ginger and horseradish extracts!! I try to feed as natural as possible with a wide variety of fresh weeds, dried weeds, a bit of florette crispy when necessary and pre alpin to add fibre but I know some people do use various pellets quite successfully so hopefully you will get a good variety of opinions but as with most things in the end it is personal choice

I have a small pot of Komodo salad mix pellets that I have kept for emergencies. So for example, when my father was seriously ill and I had to rely on someone coming in twice a day I had them available. They did have fresh weeds too and some shop fresh leaves, but I could not expect someone to be doing what I do.
However, my husband found this an easy option! Since joining the forum I have started drying weeds/flowers and I plan to grow some weed trays for when we next go away on holiday. I am also building their new home with weeds galore available. The pellets do not expire until 2017, so I will keep them handy just in case. My two have probably been overfed! This is amazing considering we have always had dogs at a good weight and we keep ourselves active and weight within normal ranges. Anyway, thought it would be good to share where I have not done quite so well. |
