Default Hibernation

I have been winding my Hermanns and Spur Thigh Tortoises for the last two weeks. Some are sleepy whilst the others are very lively. Looking at the forthcoming week temps it going to be around 17 degrees. I am thinking about taking them out of the wind down as they still have two weeks to go before I put them into hibernation and feed them again. Do you guys think this is a good idea to delay putting them into hibernation and perhaps start again December?

Just in a dilemma on what to do.............please help!!!!

It's not a big deal i think to put back a wind down, just give them good heat condition's checking weight's. The sleepy one's might think what's going on with the weather man . Begining of December is a popular time i guess, mine are still outside in the hut with night/day heat and no sign of wind down it has been very mild here. Got 16c average day, 10c average night had worse when they have come out of hibernation before.

The wild again , they have been known to break hibernation/estivation and have been forced back down again.

Thanks Paul again for the great advice. It's so mild for this time of year I guess we are going to have a very cold December, this weather is playing havoc with my tortoises. I will give them some food tomorrow which I am sure they will be very pleased to see!

Hope you and your torties are well

The Med's keep looking for sign's of them slowing, but the weather esp. the afternoon's have been good here. They have hut heat and part glass covered enclosure, not so much worried about uv this time of the year.

Fred still out and about but only for an hour or two a day, and he is much slower. He has not eaten for a month but his weight is stable.

I open Sids hatch but he doesnt come out, even into his greenhouse, hasnt eaten for a while. The Margie females are still active & going out in the garden hunting for food - not impressed at not being fed! the Herman's are all slowing down & have no interest in food even though 2 of them havent hibernated before - I wonder if its them moving outside that they have noticed the shortening days more?
