This is one of the reasons I use tubes.

Oh no Row, how annoying. Santa's little elves probably sabotaged them.

I must admit I had a holder I used for a heat emitter not working this year and switched it on and off on off loads and then it worked. The connection inside didn't quite touch and its fine now. And then a new bulb just went.

Do you get power surges at your new house ? or power cuts? I find sometimes with power surges the microwave operates on v v slow which I didn't know could happen. Are they direct into the wall or socket?

Merry Christmas !
Hope it works out... CB x

I have replied to your PM

We run at less than 2% failure on these new design lamps as opposed to near 15% with gen 1, so something is not right.

Mechanical timer? Stat? Lamp at an angle?

John, not that I have lamps at an angle apart from a temporary infra red one on a clamp (will that be ok?) but why cant they be at an angle?

Arcadia products are simply the best of the lot usually. The trailblazers !

Merry Christmas to you, CB

Thank you John!

Sorry if I sounded grumpy earlier not my intention at all just a little miffed.

I have ALWAYS used arcadia and will continue to so as up until now no probs. occasional dodgy bulb but the return process is so good never bothered me.

Being Christmas day to much going on to look at it properly but will do tomorrow.

Not stat, no timer in an extension lead which the other light set up for Tetley is in and I have had no problems with his. Both lights hang down and not at angle.

I thought maybe the socket but have changed that but will do more tomorrow to look into it.

Once again sorry for my grumpy post earlier. Just that Twiglet thought he was on the Naughty List

I use normal bulbs for heat with UV tubes but my bulbs sometimes just don't connect well with the lamp holder and I have to pull the little 'connector' bit in the lamp down slightly so they have a better connection (always when it's not on!!). Last week the fuse went in a plug so that's always a possibility and worth ruling out.
Hope Twiglet is having a warmer Christmas now, Row.

I am eating humble pie today!

I have tried the bulb in Tetley's holder and it works. So I tried it back in the original holder and it works there too!!!!! Yay Yay Yay yay yay.

So a HUGE apology for this post as it is now working!!!!!

It is still a little weird how it wasn't working but I don't care as Twiglet has heat and loving it

Once again I am sorry for my rant yesterday and a huge thank you to John aka acadiajohn for his prompt reply to my pm and his very kind and generous gesture.

There might still be something to it though Rowan. If the bulb gets switched off it wouldn't come back on again for 10 minutes or so because of it being a mercury vapour bulb so if the connection between bulb and holder wasn't completely 100% good it could go off for a split second then it would be unable to come back on again right away and would seem like it was knackered.
