Moray Firth..
Is where i reside this is my first post, but i admit to having been a 'lurker' for a few days.
No tortoise yet, but a large wooden drawer has been converted into a table, along the lines of a design i noticed on the TT website, which incorporates a few seed trays. Some seem to say that Scotland's unsuitable for tortoises, with the long winter days and wet miserable weather etc. They must be wrong though. Hermans hatchlings are catching my attention, but no luck in locating any from a breeders near enough to consider so far. Anyway, i'll perhaps persevere. Hello |

Hello I wish I lived up there do love it We try to head in that direction at least once a year. The weather in Northumberland is not that much better and my tortoises are pretty happy. They do not get out as much as I would like but have nice big indoor houses. Hope you find your perfect tortoise. If you are anything like me you will end up with more than one lol I have 9 at last count :0)

That is encouraging cherylahutch. Of course i have been to Northumberland once or twice (its lovely), and through it loads, on trips down south. i dont imagine the tortoises realise where on earth they are in any event, as long as they are warm and the sun gets above the horizon occasionally, which it seems to, even up here
Thankyou for the welcome aboard (and to tilly). |

well....
...I lived by buckie and now live just south of aberdeen and never had any issues. Birnies in Elgin are excellent, very knowledgable and do breed their own as well.

strictly exotics in perth have Hermanni Hermannis at the moment, well did, you could try them. They also use licenced carriers for delivery.
Welcome to the Forum alot of great people on here with great advice!! |

Thankyou for the 'heads up' about the Perth shop Mighty Quinn. i've put out a few feelers to breeders in the hope of getting a couple of hermans, but no luck yet i'm afraid. TBH i'm not that keen on using a retailer, but it may be that that will end up being the only option.
It is definitely a most useful forum, and the level of expertise seems very significant. |

Apparently in summer you have more daylight hours anyway. I think the quality of the light matters a lot to tortoises anyway. And winter mine is fast asleep - so whose counting !!! Amph from Wales says hello together with tortoise Trot...
