Help, what sort of tortoise am I?

Hello my name is bulldozer and my very elderly owner has recently passed away and I am now staying with his neighbor. we believe I am around 70 years old but don't know much else! can anyone shed some light on my other details so a discussion can be made on me staying here or needing a more experienced owner! Thank you x

Looks like a Testudo Graeca Graeca to me! def not Horsfield.

Lovely tortoise and just noticed the hole drilled in the back of the shell, very nice looking shell considering its age it does not look to battered! it could do with its nails trimmed by the look of them, good luck with your beauty

A beautiful old female (I think) Testudo Gracea Gracea. Shouldnt be too difficult totake care of her

More helpfully, her diet should be predominantly weeds.

The Tortoise Table Plant Database is a good place to look foodstuffs

She can live outside while the temperature is in the mid teens and higher, but shiuld be brought in at night until it gets warmer. I let Joe stay out when temps are consistently above 10C at night. She'll graze your clover, buttercups, etc and possibly a few of your proper plants too. Trust her to decide what's edible in your garden, she's unlikely to make a mistake.

I'd weigh her now and then do so on a monthly basis. She should put on weight through the summer. If her weight drops or she's not eating she may need a trip to the vet and may need worming.

Google for graeca care sheet and you'll find a selection of good care sheets
