my ex snored and i could never get to sleep, i had to try and get to sleep before him or it was hell for me, i ended up taking sleeping tablets whenever he was not on nights (he was a fireman so did different shifts) i thanked the days he was on nights, it really irritated me to death in the end amongst other problems like insane jealousy he had so we inevitably ended it x

Well, my solution above has faltered big time. The RLS now disturbs me up to 4 times before I even get to sleep. It's affecting my concentration at work, sleep pattern. I'm exhausted every day. Does anyone else, apart from Ann & me, suffer with this ? I wondered if there were any tips. It's really ruining my sleep., and I worry about the effects on my health because of lack of sleep. It's pretty much occurring every night now. xx |

It's worth going to your doctor to ask for some help with this Rach. I'm on a Central Nervous System depressant for a whole host of reasons, but one of the benefits is that I don't sleep scream, shout or hit my hubby anymore and my painful aching feet are much much better than they were. I needed many tests on the back of having hypothyroidism (my second autoimmune disease) and saw a neurologist who prescribed them for me, but there must be something similar you could take if your RLS is causing you such a problem.
Being that tired and having it affect your work is no good. I should go and chat to your GP.

I agree with Emma, best to talk to the GP as you are right Rach, losing sleep that much is not good for you!

Thing is Em, I've read that anti depressants make it worse.

I'm not on an anti depressant though Rach. I'm on a central nervous system depressant. I'm sure there are specific drugs for RLS that you can try, which aren't anti depressants.
If you're not keen on taking meds, have you tried any homeopathic treatments or home remedies? http://www.healthline.com/health/res...medies-for-rls It suggests lots of hanky panky as being helpful!!!

I have bought this magnesium spray from amazon (surprisingly found this on there although the American amazon has LOADS more RLS things to try...but hey, cant import any of it!)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/BETTER-MAGNE...=restless+legs Been reading up (and Gary has) and it could be a deficiency in terms of certain vitimins in your body, and magnesium. I think to be honest, Em - I may have to test and try lots of things before I find the right thing. I really don't want any more meds or drugs. I will try this spray later to see if it works. It had great reviews. xx |

Maybe a multi-vitamin supplement would help and give your whole body a boost through the winter months too? Really hope you sort it out soon Rach. x
