Has anybody seen any this year or has the rain killed them off

Now you mention it ... I don't think I have seen any, and no bees either.

They must be all near my house then we have loads round here bee's wasps you name it we have them.

I hate & detest wasps! Have a real phobia of them, so im glad to say I havent seen many this year. We do have masonary bees in our garden & have seen plenty of them

We have masonary bees too had lots of hoverflies and bees but no wasps we normally get loads of them cant say i miss them very odd

Really don't like them either am sure there will be a point to them I am yet to find it tho

Wasps are usually more active further on in the summer, closer to autumn. They like the fruit that falls from trees and the blackberries around that time of year.
Wasps are very useful in the garden. They eat aphids and other harmful insects that do harm to plants. Having said that, I'm not a fan either, I've been stung twice, once on the forearm and once on the bottom of my foot when a wasp crawled into my sandal.

A word of warning though. Don't kill them, they give off a chemical scent that other wasps smell and they come from all over to get you.

I googled wasps and apparently if it were not for wasps we would be paying alot more for many food's as they are used to kill bugs on crops they are superb predators and lay eggs on caterpillars etc which then hatches eats the caterpillar and goes off to do wasp things. Who new they were so useful

Hmm now you mention it not seen many wasps... a few in the spring, but none during the summer...

No wasps here, but loads of flaming bees. I spend hours vacuming them all from the conservatory ceiling.
