I did it a few years ago, lots of waiting around in a room full of strangers, I'm not good at chatting with people I don't know so found it quite daunting at first but took som course work to study, good book & sudoku to keep away boredom, the hardest part for me was swearing in in front of all those people but after that it was interesting, loved sitting round the big debate table working through the evidence. Wasn't too comfy sat in my leathers though. I didn't have any problems meeting the people on trial on my way home, they couldnt see my face through my lid and did get to burn some rubber
I'd love to do it again

Very, very boring when you have to wait around, sitting with people you don't really want to talk to.
My cases were really boring too. We kept getting daggers from the defendants family... lol

I did it about 8 years ago was boring. Sat around on way too hard chairs a lot the first week when i wasn't being sent home as no case to be picked for and then second week i got put on a case and me and another lady ended up stuck at train station with person whose case we was jury on, wasn't best experience. They tell you to take a book but to be honest you can't read it too much noise.

I did it last year, did two cases, both stupid ones and one embarassing, its an experience and there are some daft people about,I deferred it as I had a new job in Nov but 2 days later I got a letter saying your new date is March and I cannot change it so in the end I wished I had done it earlier

Well, it looks like my daughter is going to have a lot on her plate. I'm not sure a 22 year old is the right person to be doing such a serious job. Something that could affect someone for the rest of their lives should be done by older people with more living and life experience behind them.

I think if your Daughter gets a case with a younger person in the dock then her opinion is valued as there were so many oldies on my jury that alot said they were shocked and the other young person I was with said to us,"
This is a normal way to behave these days" and so the older people appreciated some younger peoples views |
