Lost art 10 cert!
I've had my hermans tortoise for almost 3 years now and got him microchipped yesterday (06 hatched) , mainly for security reasons but I want to get the papers changed into my name and register his microchip! I thought the cert was in the filing cabinet, but its not! I've looked everywhere and in 3 years it really could be anywhere. What do I do, and where do I stand?
I don't want to sell him, just wanting to change the papers to match his chip and have me listed as the owner! |

Did you get him from a petshop or breeder?
Have you anything else - perhaps a receipt or if it was a breeder some information from them to show your tort is a captive bred specimen? I don't think Defra will automatically issue a replacement cert, if at all, your best bet is to get all the information you can and then give Defra a ring, explain your situation and see wheat they say. As long as you do not intend to breed from or sell your tortoise then it isn't anything to worry about. If your tort is chipped then you have some proof that your tort belongs to you should the unthinkable happen and he gets lost or stolen |

He was from a shop. I don't have any proof of purchase, as that would of been with the cert I'll have another search.
I might want to breed in the future when h/she is older. If I can't find it then I'll ring defra. Thanks |
