Most horse retailers will have bales of hemp for about £7 -8 a bale.

Here's a link to the manufacturer. Maybe they will deliver, or tell you where you can buy it locally:

I emailed that link above to auboise, they answered me straight away with local suppliers, unfortunately its the suppliers that supply the shops, so there were none by me. I just went to a local horse supply shop, who had never heard of it!!! LOL But they searched their books and ordered me some, only took a week, but had to collect it. Cost £7.50 massive bag.

Hemps used as a substrate. Its good for med species but it would be no good for red foots.

Your not thinking about the tiny little black hemp seeds fisherman use for ground bait etc etc. are you...if so, it is nothing like the hemp used for tort substrate ...T.T. 8)

well yes i was

what i give the snails looks like a tiny black ball / seed but it is highly recomended on my snail site to be used as a treat and also as a natural wormer

given once in a blue moon

as i said before i was only asking in a general learning scheme

my reds will not be getting hemp

at the moment i am learning so much by looking around ALL sections and ALL threads !

but i do realise that reds like any other individual species need different things

thanks

Hi,

The hemp you use for substrate looks a bit like short cut straw, only softer (if that's any help <g>).
