need UV strip advice!!!
I've had my Hermann tortoise for 2 years now and i have always used combined bulbs (heat+uv) after getting fed up of them blowing up i decided to go for a UV strip and separate heat bulb.
I've now got a Arcadia D3 12% UVB 38W is there a min/max height for the strip? Its very bright and i don't want to hurt him if its too low! many thanks in advance

Hi 38w is standard output T8 and should be fitted above the basking section with the all important reflector at a gradient of 12" off of the carapace at basking down to 18"+ at resting.
As log as the lamp is fitted above the animal they pose no risk to the eyes. They have 100% UVC protection and will be upper limit effective for one whole year. The main risk to eyes comes from hanging lamps in vivs side onto the eyes. Happy to help further if required.
