Correct wattage, if it's a shade type holder they go on size, small is around 100w max, meduim is 150w max, large can handle 150w plus.
If you buy a ceramic bulb holder on a flex with plug, it should say what it is rated, what wattage it can handle i.e, upto 100w, 200w, 1000w rated. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CERAMIC-vivari...item4a9ced2f37

I wouldn't go to the max of the holder with the wattage of the bulb, but that's just me. I think Woolffman of ReptileUV told me this too. Not that he was the Oracle on all things ...

Wattage is a measure of power. 100w is 100w no matter what produces. Any 100w bulb should produce the same amount of heat.
A 160w bulb is going to produce more no matter what. It seems... from reading the thread... you're making it more complex than you should be. I'm guessing this is an extension to another thread... what are you trying to do? Quote:

"It is important to note that our 160w lamp provides huge amounts of safe UVB with no UVC and a much lower heat emmision. Our lamp uses the latest in lighting tech to achieve this. The 160w will give you great UV readings with less chance of over heating your animals" Apart from that, I have 25w low energy bulbs that are cool enough to actually touch and 15w normal bulbs that are too hot to touch so they don't all produce the same heat Last edited by Alan1; 01-03-2011 at 08:13 AM. |

I like Arcadia's new combined bulb's for light and upto now reliability. The heat output if not as good as a megaray, if needed, i am willing to compensate with an extra heat source.
