I didn't realise numpty is a Scottish term. I call my sons numpties all the time!
Interestingly, all three of them have Scottish names, despite us having no Scottish links, so the term is perfect for them; always taken in good humour and said in fun.
I shall be even more inclined to call them numpties now!
