Juvenile wind down

Hi guys,

just thinking its time to to start woryying about hibernation,

my torts are 3 and 4 due to a house move last year i over wintered just in case they were stressed from move .

had 2 succesfull hibernations before - at the age they are how long would the wind down period be ? i cant remeber last time 6 weeks seems a little long for their age too..

i wont to gte the boys in hibernation for mid december and was thinking at that age 8 weeks in the fridge ???

just want to double check :) :) :)

4 to5 weeks, it's not set in stone, for the wind down , as for the hibernation ,You could give the 3 yr old 8 weeks and the 4 yr old 10 weeks.

i was thinking the 4 year old could manage a little longer - with a year off i just want to double check just to make sure!!

whats the weight loss % 4 year old weighs 150g and the 3 year old weighs 123g

January, Feb and March are good months for hibernation. Certainly your four year old should be able to do all these.

Yes it could, mine 5 yr old did 12 weeks at 3 yrs and 4yrs, just thought you wanted to be carefull.

10% of the final weight before you put them in the fridge.
