An eggy female
One of my females just out of hibernation is eggy I am sure, as she is bashing one of the other females. Male is seperated.
So those who think tortoise dont carry eggs in hibernation could be in for a shock:0) |
Or it just might be she's looking for breeding???
I had a Manouria emys phayrei that turned into a bully when she was looking to have her eggs fertilized. After she was bred, she began the task of nest building. |

I have had both Herman's and iberas lay within a week of waking up and all the eggs were infertile, so how do these complexed little animal's know that they will not have time to lay so there for dont fertilise the eggs.
Both the females laid fertile eggs before and after those infertile ones. |

Let us know how she gets on please, Sandy. Hope she lays soon and settles back down.

I have often had hand fulls of eggs on the very day (admittedly it was a beautiful sunny day) from my old Hermanns. They have never been fertile.

One of my females laid five eggs three weeks ago and they are infertile too.
She was housed with a male before I had her, but I’ve almost had her for three years now so wasn’t expecting eggs from her. I know that they can have fertile eggs around three years after mating, but thought she’d have laid before now. |
