Torts on TV

Is anyone watching the Alan Titchmarsh show on ITV ?? There's a feature on shortly by a tortoise expert on how to safely tuck your tort up for the winter :p This should be interesting

bum, was out collecting the kids - did you see it Clare?

TortBabe 05-10-2011 03:45 PM

Well that was the biggest load of rubbish :( A leopard and 2 hermanns in a little pen, eating chunks of carrot and fruit :( That done absolutely nothing for correct husbandry methods :(

I watched it and was surprised they had a bowl of apple and carrot. Also they said hibernation temp had to between 0 and 10 degrees. Is this correct?

I had my mum ringing me up saying 'see they can have bowl of carrots and eat fruit' :( When my parents were looking after my hermans I told them 'don't feed them fruit', lol

He did say that the temp should be 5 0C, but never mentioned anything about checking them, or weighing :( I thought it was totally misleading to be honest, if I was sat at home thinking of buying a tortoise or hibernating one that I had it would've totally confused me :(

I'm sure he said temp between o and 10 degrees ideally 5 degrees xx

Haven't seen it but from what I have read here the programme didn't learn from all the complaints they had last year. They apparently had to retract the info they gave and correct it.

So I also presume that everyone watching will think that you can hibernate the leopard as well. Absolute twaddle and yes I think that we should complain.

They never learn do they?????
