Think I've lost Dozer

I've just been checking my hibernating Hermanns.

Checked Dozer, no reactions. lost nearly 9 grams. I've taken her out of the fridge and into a warm room with a Megaray on, shes not directly under it at the moment. This was about half an hour ago. No reaction from her still, I hate to say it but she looks dead to me.

I don't know what has happened. There is is no sign of any urine or faeces. Her nose looks clear. Her eyes look, well, dead.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I'm going to try a warm bath but as I say I think I already know the outcome.

Not sure what to do with the others. They are all boxed seperatly, all reacted to my touch and have no weight loss whatsoever, clear noses.

I know I'm opening myself up to "told you so" comments from non hibernaters but I believe in reporting my disasters as well as sucesses.

Hi Kirkie, I am sorry to read this, I think you know your torts pretty well and can tell very quickly when something is wrong.
If your tortoise has passed away try and not blame yourself, you did the right thing as this is a hibernating species, if temps are fine and the rest have lost no weight and not passed urine I would continue the hibernation.
sometimes tortoises die suddenly whether in hibernation or out of it and the causes are unknown.

The little cow!!!!!. She's moving her legs now when I touch them. :) :) :)

Think I panicked but her eyes look very sunken,as shes dropped far too much weight and was totally unresponsive. Coud be she's dehydrated. I'll give her a bath in a little while.

Looks like I'll be overwintering after all!!!

Thanks for your nice comments and thanks for the PM Sandy.

I feel a bit embarrassed now, bloody amateur.:oops::oops:
