We have had tortoises before and have read all the info possible when handling, having brought specialist books ect for a pervious tortoise we owned. We went to a store which specialises in tortoise breeding and where wed initially got her from and they told us what to do regarding, the eggs and regarding her health. Being told that not eating after laying eggs wasn't too abnormal ect. So didn't think there was any need, as I said she was pooing when given baths so though she must be eating of a nite time. Not opening her eyes we were told was due to dehydration so again putting drops wed bought to help with the dehydration problem we thought would fix it, and on occasions she was waking up and opening her eyes.
It's all misleading with information one tells you something then another contradicts it, vets here aren't specialised enough so we went to where did, having being breeders for years.
Looking at things now I wish I'd have known this forum existed sooner. However we believed we have received all the information we needed to help her back to full health.

Sorry but just because a shop sells tortoises, does not mean they have any idea on medical things for them, I am afraid.
Only a good tortoise vet can help in these circumstances:0)
Or as you have found out, using forum can help big time. We can help with minor things with tortoises, but most times its best to see a good tortoise vet.

I'm not sure where abouts you are but asking for a good vet on the forums will usually get results, with so many members there's bound to be someone near where you are. It would be worth finding out for the future but ask in a new thread it will atract more attention.

She's about 15 minutes from Rhyl in North Wales.

When did she died and where is the body? You could take her for postmortem and determine if the others are in danger.
