Broken incubator please help!

I have two eggs that have been in an exo terra incubator for the last seven weeks. The temperature has suddenly dropped to 24 degrees and won’t go back up.

I know people have had success with other kinds of incubators but I’d like to know if the eggs will be ok if I take them out of the incubator and turn it off for a day or so? This happened with the last clutch and the temps went right down so I don’t trust it.

Can you get a heat mat & thermostat?
Maybe used? Or a heated plant propegator or indeed a used incubator??

Id be tempted to keep the incubator closed & wrapped up until an alternative can be found.

Here in the States garden centers sell seedling heat mats. It's a strip of plastic with heating elements embedded in it for putting under growing medium with seeds planted in it. If you can get something like that, you can put the eggs into a smaller plastic container, like a shoe box, and cover it and sit the container on the seedling mat. Maybe even place the whole thing on your water heater.

I would hesitate to use a human heating pad as they get too hot.

(OOPS! I see burnt toast has already suggested the heated plant propegator. I should read through all the answers before I reply!)

If you have an airing cupboard you can put it in there:0) Until you find an alternative:0)
Homemade incubators are good:0)

Thank you ☺️

I thought I would post an update... we used a heat mat and covered the tub the eggs are in with a towel. This kept the temperature at 31.5 degrees and tonight one of the eggs has started to hatch! Thank you for helping us get through the last week

cutie Rachael - nice photos. I bet you are loving having your little one - just watch the humidity and somewhat bacteria that can sprout under plastic - make sure well aired and dry. such a lovely little tortoise - thanks for sharing ! CB
