very small tort!

hiya...my friend has today got a new hermanns tort...the thing is he is meant to be 5 yrs old but he is less than half the size of my 5 yr old.
She has the paper work for him and it states that he was hatched 2005.

Lets say that he hasnt been looked after and not fed the correct diet and the correct heat,etc...would it be possible to build him up and make him grow normally? or will he always be tiny?

he looks like the size of my little Hermann - George aged 2yrs

Hi looks exactly the size of my Hermann hatched 2009

Aliza 01-04-2011 07:40 PM

Yeah I'd say more like 3 years old, similar size to my 3 yr old

They look the same to me. The smaller one looks like a boy also.

Increasing the temperatures and the feeding schedule should accelerate the smaller guys development. Be careful during feeding time. Watch to make sure the larger one doesn't dominate during feeding time.

Thank you all... no worries, the little one isnt mine,he's a friends a few doors down so they won't be feeding together...so what temperatures do you suggest for him? and will he grow to a normal size?
He really is a cutie and we are just trying to decide on a name for him :)

A temperature range of 20 to 35+ is usually a good range for most Testudo. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't grow to normal size.
