Arcadia 100w

Sorry if there is already a thread on these I must of missed it.
I just wanted to know are the temps these give out lower than a normal 100w bulb?
I read on here that this is the case with the 160w and just wanted to check it was the same for the 100w one?
Many Thanks x

I read a post somewhere that said the temps were about the same as a Megaray or a Solarglo I think. They would have to be hot enough at the minimum distance so I expect they are

Hi

I use an Arcadia 160w and yes, they do seem to produce lower temps, I have one in a 4' by 3' ish table

If no-one answers here on the thread I would PM Arcadiajohn to find out more but ther heat of the 100w, I'm sure he would know more

I'm pretty sure the 160w bulb has a larger spread (beam angle) than the 100w - maybe that's why it's slightly cooler.
My tables not massive, so the 100 watt is fine for me - perhaps for a big table the 160 would be better :)
I have mine between 12-13 inches away from the substrate and my basking temps are 32 deg - my bulb is placed exactly where the old megaray was, so I'd say the temps given off were very similar indeed.

Hi I am using Arcadia 100W new combined bulb. It is 12 inches/ 30 cm from the substrate (soil and small slate chips), light is beautiful and even. I dont think I can safely put it closer than 30 cm. Temps are 29 C directly under the lamp, which is clearly not enough. I have a CHE giving perfect basking temperatures on the opposite dark side of the table where she spending most of her time now.

This used to get me all the time, distance for combined bulb's, the lowest distance recommended by the maker's of the bulb, if it is 30cms it is measured from the top of the Tort, and not the substrate.
Bare in mind if the bulb is serving 2 or more different size tort's, this can be confusing.

Thanks all, think I might invest in one on payday x

Exactly, and I am measuring from the substrate. MAybe I should check the holder, can the holder affect the temperature how hot bulb can get?

Not realy, as long as it is a ceramic and rated correct.
