vithala06-11-10 clutch3 incubation time days , out of 4 eggs hatched.

Total hatched..... 8 ...... from...... 42.....eggs layed 0 dead in shell 2 infertile eggs sofar

* = nesting was not done well , in fact she made a pigs ear of it. i suspect that she was so desperate to get them out that she didnt take her normal care. 1 of the eggs cracked and went bad so i heve 31 incubating. Also this clutch being large also meant some of the eggs were slightly squarish where they had been held tight inside, another thing about this clutch was a random piece of egg yolk on the substrate a short distance away from the nest!!!! there was no shell in sight(even though for the first time ever i saw the other female trying to bite one the eggs as they were being nested).

Is it possible for a tortoise to over produce and lay an un-shelled egg? her third clutch was perfect, again one egg slightly squarish on the sides.
