Tort Towers (almost complete) & a question or two :)
Hey all,
Have almost finished Tommy's home, pics below! Have a few questions though if someone wouldn't mind answering? First question is, is the ramp to steep? Secondary, is one strip light enough? I've bought a 2 strip light controller but figured just using one is enough given he barely surfaces? (maybe there isn't enough light to interest him?) I will be adding a 40 or 60 watt basking bulb on the 2nd level to try and encourage him to explore a little! (also, a little re-arranging of his area is going to be required i think as its very compact in one area!) Any thoughts would be very appreciated as I want to make Tommy a happy tort! Beginning of the "mezzanine" level :P No entry to top level yet! almost open for business! |

nice job there.
i would put the uv tube at the basking end, then use a daylight(cheaper)tube at the cooler end.a reflector will double the amount of light/uv going down to tour tort.as your quite handy how about a section of 3"plastic pipe cut in half longways then lined with cooking foil,or if your feel like spending the extra cash some "propper" reflectors. regards dave |

My tort seems to be able to climb almost vertically so I shouldn't think the ramp will be an issue.

I like it!!!!!
It will probably take him a while to get used to things and start using the ramp on his own but when he does, if you want to make it a little less steep you can raise the base of the ramp with a few rocks to change the angle and cover with a mound of substrate. He is going to love it Yoshi loves it when I change his enclosure but Harley sulks for days! Lol he has a wankey blankey (u dont wana know) but refused to sleep in it for 3days coz I put it through the washing machine! He is the boss of me lol Let us know how it goes and you will be forever changing and modifying XD |
