Male Red Foot Tortoise seeks permanent home
We are currently seeking a home for our rescued sub-adult male red foot tortoise.
He unfortunately hasn’t had the best start in life nor the best care. From the offset he has had a poor diet and poor husbandry which has given the top scutes of his shell a minor-moderate pyramiding effect. We had managed to find him a home where these effects could be prevented from getting worst he perked up was very active, and feeding very well. However over time his owner has struggled to continue to provide the care that he had been getting. His old setup is no longer adequate for him nor his diet and husbandry. We have since took him back and got him on the right track again. He is currently in a tortoise run/table with a glass viewing window at the front. He has a 250w ceramic heater with guard and a heated hide area to one end with lift up lid. Temps are around 33c hot 29c ambient 27c cool all controlled by habistat thermostat. He has a repti-glo 5.0 UVB (needs new bulb soon) controlled by a starter and timer for 12-14 hours a day. He is kept on a bark mixture with very good humidity levels currently around 70-80%. He gets regular baths and exercise in the house. He has access to water and cuttle fish 24/7. He is a lively character but shy. He loves his greens and mixed greens make up the majority of his diet with added fruits such as apple, tomatoes, mango, strawberries and veggies like carrot, green beans etc and on occasion an egg or chicken. His food is dusted with a multi vitamin/calcium supplement. We need a VERY good home for this guy with lots of love and attention, he deserves we need a home that can give him lots of space and at minimum what we are providing now. He will need a larger enclosure in time. We are looking for someone who has experience and wants to rehome for personal pleasure. We will be asking lots of questions to make sure you know your stuff and we would like to see the setup you plan to keep him in and for this reason would like to prioritize possible homes more local to us first. We will provide his current setup (at a reduced cost) but it is by no means a long term housing situation for him. It measures 48x25x15 inch in MDF this is why this setup is only meant to be temporary and why we seek him a new home as he needs more space than we can provide. Please contact us if you have genuine interest and can provide the above. We don’t want him to go back to poor conditions as he has already been through enough. There will be a small Rehoming fee (to be discussed) as we don’t want to attract freebie hunters. Thank you |

You will need to add an e-mail address (so people can get in touch) as you won't be able to use the PM facility until you have 5 posts.

I would offer him a home if it was a female, but the risk of having another male to limited females is probably not a good idea.
