Hiya Tinymaze, looking much more tortoise friendly. What size is your enclosure? You might want to think about upgrading it.
You could try buying repti grass so the torts can walk all the much off onto the grass, alternatively you'll need to change the water regularly!!! Looking much better now, good on ya.

hi, it's 4ft x 2ft cage, lol I'd be there all day changing water if that's the case and i will be going back to work soon so that won't work. hopefully I'll find something suitable to stop the soil going in so much, and thanks for the encouragement it's upsetting knowing you've been doing it wrong and your inflicting poor health on your babies
but hopefully I'll be getting it right now with help, thank you all

Maybe at the end of the cage you could put a bit of turf..then when they get in and out of the water it might stop the soil dirtying the water a little..worth a try

Repti-turf that's what it's called not repti grass, yeah you could buy some repti-turf d'uh Juelsy. If you put some of that near the water the torts should get most of the soil off before they get into the water. My water dish sits on a slate that is just a tiny tiny bit elevated, you could also try that.

The soil doesn't need to be so exposed,if you look at pics of their natural habitat, it's covered in rocks and stones, ( TT forum, show good pics of natural habitats) that way they will get less muddy , and it's a bit more interesting. I do agree about the size, it needs to be bigger for those two, but hopefully they will go outside soon!!!!!

Ah ok from the post people are thinking it's too small, ok must say there been in it for about 3 years now so i suppose it's time to upgrade, just have to scrap the penny's some how, i have a look around to find something suitable, guessing 6ft by 3ftish a be ok?
and yes there be going out when spring hits here, just started planting up there outside pen, unfortunately i rent/house share so am not allowed to put in a permanent fixture so I've plant up a 3ft, old cage i have and at one end will be open leading into penned off area (using a folding down pen) but when im about they have the whole garden to run around in, when it's done I'll post some pictures of it,

Hunt the charity shops gumtree etc and buy a wardrobe or bookcase and convert it, it will be a lot cheaper than a custom built tort table. That's what i've done. Looking forward to seeing the outdoor enclosure.
