Default Stolen Tortoises on Crimewatch

Hello Everyone

Please see the following message from John Hayward, National Theft Register Co-ordinator:

Dear All,

This is to inform you that the three Spur-thighed Tortoises stolen from Dartford, Kent on 16th. June 2010 are the subject of an appeal to be broadcast live on Crimewatch Daily, BBC1 TV at 9.15 a.m. tomorrow, Monday 28th. June 2010.

Please inform all members of the various Chelonia Groups and Associations of this featured item on the show as the more viewers we have, the better the chance of information leading to the recovery of the stolen animals and leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves.

Very many thanks

John Hayward - Coordinator National Theft Register, Tel: 01869 325699 07802 404929 Email: jh@ntr.supanet.com

Hence why I don't leave my tort out at night. That and I haven't got my enclosure sorted out yet.

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/no...on_Crimewatch/

This is the article following Crimewatch

Quote - ..... says the tortoises were probably stolen because they are of the spur-thighed variety, which are sold for big money on the black market.

'Big money'

Sadly the owner contacted me today as she has had now news or leads. These were two 18 yr olds and one 40 yr old that is blind.

If anyone is offered an adult tortoise without an Article 10 in the South East please contact the police or PM me as I have details/photos of those that were stolen.
