Maybe a silly question but.....

Daisy has 4 scutes down the side, Phoebe has 5. Is one of them abnormal or is it just down to genetics? They both have the same dad... called Colin! but they probs have different mums.

I dont really know but Pheobe looks like she has possibly split scutes, this could be because of incubation being too hot or humid? (possibly) it wont have any affect on the tortoise and other peoples torts on this forum have split scutes too. They both look absolutely adorable!!!

Aw thanks

What happens to cause split scutes then... physically to the tort? does the shell just split then as it heals forms extra scutes?
