Oh Suze, she's looking beautiful! What a clever girl. Can you believe she and Esmé turn 3 next month?!

Ahhh they grow up so fast, don't they. Were they just a few days apart, I think they were. I found her in this planter ( old enamel bowl ) I think she must have shimmied up between the side of the enclosure and the cold frame , to the right of the picture, as you can see I have closed the gap, naughty girl. She is possibly my most bad tempered tortoise, she really is a bit miserable , very stompy, oh well there always one.

Ahh...Oscar's my Mr Grumpy and totally different to Hugo his clutch mate. Yes, there's always one. Esmé however is really friendly, eats anything she's given and is no trouble. But she has to bury herself down every time she's outside and it's like an archaeological dig, with about 4 of us trying to find her each evening!! Sometimes there's no shell showing at all - the little madam!

Phoebe was clearly very determined to get to the sedum.
Esmé hatched on 9th June, and I think Phoebe was only a week or so later. not many days between them at all.

Suze I love that photograph ! all the colours and textures. You should also put the camera down in front of her little face, don't focus nothing, jlook at the screen, nothing just snap away at her level and see what you get cause that would have been terrific to capture her little face stuffing all that. Cheeky little thing !!

I know I should have got in a bit closer withe camera, but I was so shocked and surprised to see her sitting there quite happily eating. She is a naughty tortoise, grumpy and always trying to escape.
