Hi Emma had a hectic bank holiday weekend our youngest son Connor had a seizure on the Friday and was rushed from his girlfriends in Ringwood to Bournemouth Hospital and kept in till late on Sunday. Lola one of our granddaughters had a chest infection and had ambulance out to her on the Friday night as well and on then last week Ciara our other granddaughter was taken into hospital with anaemia. So Connor has been of work sick going back Thursday and got an appointment to see specialist at first seizure clinic on the 5th July which i thought was a long time as Bournemouth wanted him seen urgently but in Southampton. In the meantime he not allowed to drive so his brother or myself will be taking him to and from work. Hope your family and torts r all ok xxxx

Lovely photographs. I have never seen these torts. They look so interesting. I am assuming from some of the comments they like lots of warmth?

I have used a large dogs bed, but put a few inches of coir in. Mine aren't interested though, so perhaps I should think of water too. Hadn't though of that one.

What size do they grow to?

I see you are in Southampton, are you going to the Hampshire Tortoise Society open day 18th June? I'm just interested to say hello to anyone who is on the forum. Everyone will think I'm a bit mad going round asking if they visit Shelled warriors!

Oh Helen!! What an awful time of it. I can't understand why Connor has to wait so long either. I'd have thought they'd want to see him as soon as possible, especially on the recommendation of Bournemouth. It's awful that our NHS waiting lists are so bad.
Bless Lola and Ciara too. I hope they're feeling better now. You must have been out of your mind with worry.
How's Lola enjoying Tiwi?

We're all okay here thanks - it's exam season but we're halfway through.
The torts are all fine and been enjoying the weather. Can you believe it's five years already since we came up to see you?!! xx

that's dreadful, hope it is all ok and gets better for you and your family. A friend of mine had similar and it did take a little while to get the appointment based on the assessment that it hadn't happened previously. Bournemouth hospital seems more geared up than Southampton though (lots of elderly?) but sure it will work out ok. CB

Thanks for the info on the size, I had no idea.

The open day information is on their website.

http://hampshiretortoisesociety.org/index.html

The Hampshire Tortoise Society Head Quarters is Tortark and can be found opposite Garsons Garden Centre, Fontly Road, Titchfield, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 6QX.

I haven't been to their open day before, but thought I would go and support. I did go to the HQ when I was in the area a few months ago but it was closed. However, at the huge garden centre opposite met 2 people working there who have lots of torts between them.

CB has been and I'm sure she said they had donkey rides one year!

Ha Jan it was Sulcata rides !! They should have got a donkey. The sulcata blizted everything. Hilarious.

Yes it's a lovely time if weather ok. they got me doing tombola one year ! I'm useless , I ended up buying most of the gifts so they could fund raise more!! And I monitored the drawing for kiddies which again was useless because I'm a critique and they had to form an orderly queue for a critique !
