Do hormones affect the DNA then? I could understand if you were testing for testosterone or oestrogens but surely DNA is set in stone from first stages due to the chromosomes?

Reptiles do not have XY chromosomes like mammals do. So the only thing you can test for is hormones in reptiles.

Interesting. isn't fascinating too that you can change the sex of something (just) by heat influence. Just incredible when you think about it.
