Default tortoise eye specialist???

hiya guys I need your help please.

Daisy is a 4yo(approx) tunisian male spur-thigh.
hes kept in a tortoise table, 100% topsoil combined bulb, fed weeds, bathed regually.

A couple of months ago he developed a milky cresent in one of his eyes, I took him to my vets (who do deal with torts), who said since he wasnt in any discomfort just to monitor it.

A smaller milky curve appeared in the other eye. I took him back to the vets who gave him some eyedrops for it.

I then changes his enclosure, which I think the stress from this caused his problems to esculate. The eyedrops didnt work so we went back to the vets.

I was given baytril for him to take orally, the same eyedrops as before and some steroid eyedrops to reduce theswelling.

My vets think the cresents are pus building up inside te eye as a result of an internal infection from something like an abcess in the stomach.

Since the treatments they have tried havent worked and Daisy really seems to be feeling the strain of it now, the decision has been made to call in the experts.

he is 102mm long and now weighs 180g (in july he weighed 216g).

he is at the vets now haveing his stomach tubed with critical care formula as he has stopped eating in the past week.

If anyone had heard of anything like this before and could reccomend their or a vet who can help him please please let me know.

thanks

Hi Katie,

Cant really advise anything except there is a TT recommended vet in Bideford (I see you are in North Devon). Is this the one you are using?

Hi Katie,

Sorry to hear Daisy isnt well, wishing him a speedy recovery.

It would be difficult to take him to another vet whilst in the middle of being treated, unless you are more than 100% certain that the treatment is wrong.

Please keep us updated.
