Default Basking Bulbs

I’m getting towards the end of my stock of halogen reflector bulbs (cleared Homebase of them when they had them reduced a couple of years ago!) and I wondered what everyone is using now.
I have separate uv tubes and heat lamps.
I’m bamboozled by what to opt for as everything seems so much more expensive. Any recommendations please?

These are a popular choice now Emma. Very cheap to buy (& bulbs dirt cheap and very reliable) They give a nice wide basking zone too.

Only thing is you have to attach your own wire & plug! I brought some... But am still waiting for hubby to do so!

In the meantime (claptomaniac here!) has shelves, full of P30's. They were still selling them reasonably on ebay until recently.

Thanks Lynne. I’d seen these but I was hoping for affordable bulbs so my dome lamps won’t all be redundant.
Might need to resort to the basking lamps sold by the reptile shops...

That's me Emma, got lots with the nice wide silver reflectors.

I was disappointed with a few of those above bulbs from swell. Blew very quickly and I was surprised to find they offer no warranty on these. Be interested to see how yours fair. Could you update us please?

Of course I will, Lynn. I bought a variety actually - Arcadia, pro-rep and their own brand basking bulbs, so I’ll see how they all fare and will report back. Hopefully they won’t blow too quickly. I had one lamp holder that came with one of my rehomed torts and every bulb I put in it went within a day so it must have been a faulty holder.
I only have two tables with combi bulbs and had a run of combi bulbs coming broken, which I wasn’t amused at but touch wood since then I’ve had no problems but by choice I use separate uv and heat, especially after forking out for the set-ups over the years.

These are actually UVA aren't they? I sometimes just use normal reflector bulbs no UV cause it still gives the heat out.

I love my IR gun its reassuring on the heat levels.

Is there a cheap testor / kit to check that combined are giving out the UVA&B - last time I Looked they were very expensive. I am worried some of my combined lamps are just heat now....CB
