Default I'm looking for a Redfoot

In my late 40's now, and they're two animals/reptiles I've always wanted. One being a rabbit and we now have four for about the past 5/6 years and the other being a tortoise. Over the years, I have dipped in and out of looking at tortoises, mainly because I wanted the children to benefit from them as much as me. I did visit a lady who operates a resuce (but doesn't rehome).

I now feel the time is right to go ahead, and I am more than confident that the children will love one just as I will and just like they love their rabbits.

I have in mind a redfoot, would this be a good 'starter' tortoise? I also want to ask if they are better bought in pairs (like rabbits) or are they comfortable with their own company. What should I expect to pay? I am thinking of buying from a breed rather than pet shop (or one that is looking to be rehomed), but I don't know where to start. I think I have sourced a breeder in Cheshire (North West), but I sent an email a few days ago, but had no reply.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have 3 that live together they are lovely friendly tortoises and pretty easy to care for. They can get pretty big sometimes so space is a factor to think about. Mine are in a 5 foot viv at the moment and are fine as they are not fully grown but it's something to think about for adult size redfoots. They are really lovely tortoises tho. I got mine from a reptile pet shop but am sure there will be breeders on here.

As long as it's secure they should be out all summer.
