yeah, i'm sure there must be some kind of payment plan. It's nice to know that stompie too the fluid well. They're giving him a sugary water to give him a boost.

In most vets you can pay a monthly fee, i know thats what my mum has done in the past with our dogs, although, it may be different at your vets...,
Just ask, there is now shame in it |

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's awful when pets are ill. He sounds as if he's with someone who knows what they're doing though. I would imagine there is a payment plan. They can't expect people to just pay hundreds of pounds outright. Some people use insurances and they don't pay out immediately. Might be worth giving them a ring and having a word.
Keeping my fingers crossed that he makes a speedy full recovery. Verity x

Hi Zoe
I fully sympathise with what you are going through right now...you feel so useless don't you when your animals are ill. You are doing a great job and putting Stompie first which is all that can be asked of you. Chin up and think positive thoughts. I will send some Stompie's way... Best wishes Jo |

Check with your vet about payment plans, we had the dog in the vets years ago and it cost nearly £2000 but there is no option as you said they are part of the family and health has no price. Hope its good news on monday

I will make sure to ask about payment options on monday. I'm sure even if i can't come up with my money myself the 'Bank of Dad' will probably lend me a bit to help out. He didn't want a tortoise, but it's hard not to love them.
Jo, You're right, I do feel useless. Especially when i can't even see him, to watch if he's picking up or going down hill. I'm trying to stay possitive, I mean, at least now he with the vet who is getting food and water into him, even if he's not interested himself in eating yet. So I know it's all for the best. Still i'm an emotional wreck at the moment. I've been crying over every little thing, whcih isn't like me at all!! Verity, the news so far is, He's still not eating or drinking independantly, but he does have his eyes open now, they've started tube feeding him as well as the water. The managed to take bloods now, which is good as they couldn't the first time aroudn ebcause they wanted him to have some water in him first. So test results are in on monday. Darren, Yes he's a Solvinian Tortoise, Hatched 2006. I did 2 years of research before getting a tortoise, but didn't come across the dangers of buying a solvinian tortoise until i Joinned this site. I didn't fidn out he was solvinian until i recived his Certificates. phoenix ( sorry I don't know your name 'Phoenix' sounds cool though! ) It's terrible waiting for news. There are so many things to think about at the moment. If there's nothing wrong with him, then there's no way to prevent thsi happenening again in a months time. If there is something wrong, i'm worried about, How long he's gonna take to get better, what they'll have to do, how much more it's going to cost, and if he will ever ever get better. It's a definate worry, I jut want to know now whats going on. tortoiseguy I've only had stompie since april, but i adore him. as i've said before, i'll do whatever it takes to make him feel better, £2000 is a shocking amount in vet bills. I hope your dogs much much better now I'm trying to keep my chin up through all of this.. but i am worried as hell!! Results tomorrow though and many he can come home again. Thanks for everyones thoughts and advice. I'm sure stompie can feel the love being sent his way.
