I got one of those last week - they're cute. The larger pumpkins are edible, it's just that when they get really big they don't taste of much (but I don't think tortoises care <g>).

Probably, but pumpkins need a lot of heat and a lot of water (I usually grow them and this year was a complete failure - we had lots of water but not much heat). Save any seeds you get, keep them in a cool, dry place, and then in the spring sow them two or three to a pot in good potting compost indoors. When they sprout, thin them to one to a pot, and when get their second leaves you can plant them out if it's warm enough. Be warned though - if they grow as they should they take up a lot of space. Also, what usually happens is that you get lots of male flowers first and no female flowers, and then female flowers and few male flowers, so it helps if you have at least two or three plants on the go, and also if you fertilise the female flowers with the male ones.

for best reasults grow them in a green house, or water them with nearly boiling water.

Just wipe them with a paper towel, or don't even bother - if you leave them spread out on newspaper for a day or two, all the gooey stuff will just dry and shrink.
